"..we endured the elements and pushed ourselves to the brink. That Shanty was an oasis
that breathed new life into us as we warmed our hands by it's stove and supped with hungry bellies, laughed and
slept (well tried anyway) inside it's walls...And even as time takes its toll on the old Shanty and perhaps falls
into decay and ruin, it will be well remembered as the birthplace of the "Shanty Boys Mess". Hurrah!"

About the Shanty Boys Mess:
The Shanty Boys Mess formed with the intent of developing a more authentic impression, and hopefully influencing others to do so as well. Our primary impression is that of a mid to late war western federal infantryman. Our first event as a mess was the Sayler's Creek Campaign March 2000.
